LONDON — Rauour the labrador saved the life of a woman who was at considerable risk after she was stuck in blizzard conditions. Now the brave dog is being rewarded for it.
After the initial search team who were on foot had passed her location hours earlier without finding her, the clever Scottish dog found the woman who was trapped in the hole of a tree rootThanks to his power of scent, the woman was safely airlifted to hospital by the Royal Navy.
Rouour's handler, John, explained: "His role as an air scenting search dog was more effective than a 20-strong team performing a line search on the ground. Without him finding the casualty when he did, the outcome could have been very grave indeed.” Read more...
