Recently, 156 adorable beagle puppies were rescued from an animal testing laboratory in the southern Indian city of Bengaluru.
Organised with the help of the city's animal rights organisation Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA) and dog boarding centre Hotel For Dogs, this was one of the largest-ever beagle rescues in the world. The dogs are between two and five years old, and have all been vaccinated and sterilised.
The canines will be released in four batches over the next two months to be rehabilitated. The first batch of 42 beagles arrived at Bengaluru's Hotel for Dogs a few days ago, and will be their home until they are adopted. The two organisations plan to hold regular adoption camps to screen potential adopters for the four batches.
